Amy Smith Rubin

The relationships Amy Smith Rubin formed at the University of Florida helped shape both her personal and professional life. From meeting her future husband on campus to being inspired by a professor who encouraged her to pursue graduate school, her Gator experience laid the foundation for a successful career in financial planning. Today, she remains deeply connected to the university through her service on the Dean’s Leadership Council.

About Me

My advice to every Gator:

Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy & take full advantage of the opportunities UF has to offer. The college years fly by, and they will be some of the absolute best memories of your life. Many of your connections and friendships will also remain with you for the rest of your life.

My favorite UF memory: Amy Smith Rubin and her husband pose with a University of Florida Gators banner at a historic site in Egypt, with stone architecture and rocky cliffs in the background.

Meeting my future husband in my sophomore year at UF! He is as big a Gator fan as I am and loves the university as I do. We spend a lot of time in Gainesville and, because of that, we even bought a house near campus.

A mentor or professor from UF that made a difference in my life:

Dr. William Kelso, who was a political science and public administration professor. Dr. Kelso was brilliant, engaging and genuinely cared about his students. He is the reason I attended graduate school to pursue an MBA, & he is one of the reasons I have the career I have today. He started that chain reaction…

Career Story

After earning a BA in Political Sciences-International Relations from the University of Florida in 1981, I pursued graduate studies at Emory University, where I received an MBA in Finance in 1983. Following graduation, I began my career with a national retailer, serving in its finance division, focusing on strategic planning & financial analysis. This role provided a strong foundation in corporate finance, business strategy & long-range planning.

A few years later, I transitioned to the financial services industry, joining a private wealth management firm in Atlanta as an investment analyst & financial planner. Building on that experience, I became a financial advisor & began developing my own practice.

For more than 40 years in the financial services industry, I have remained affiliated within the independent broker-dealer network, helping individuals & families navigate important financial decisions & pursue their long-term goals. My practice focuses on comprehensive financial planning, including income & cash flow management, wealth accumulation strategies, retirement planning, education funding, insurance & estate planning.

Throughout my career, I have been committed to providing objective advice, building lasting client relationships & helping clients gain confidence in their financial futures.
